Holy Father,
Sub: The abuse of the confessional- request for its removal –regarding.

I am a Catholic Christian living at Vellicode Parish in the Kottar Diocese in India.
My son wanted to marry a 24 year old girl  brought up as a Hindu.
During the negotiations, I gave an assurance to the bride’s father that marriage would not be used for the conversion of the faith of his daughter.
But the Parish Priest imposed confession as a mandatory requisite for solemnizing the marriage.
Accordingly, the bride had to sit in a confessional against her own will and the Parish Priest gave the confession.
Therefore, the Holy Father is humbly requested to kindly consider the question of removing the confessionals from the churches, so that no girl anywhere in the world would be a victim of a barbaric act of this kind.
Incidentally, a positive action might pave the way for the unification of the church.

                                        I beg to remain,
                                        Yours obediently,

                                      (V. Sabarimuthu)
