OUR LADY OF SEVEN DOLOURS CHURCH, VELLICODE
ANNUAL FESTIVAL- 2012
The dominant theme of this year’s festival
was “Social Justice”.
On 14 September 2012, Rev. Fr. Thensingh compared Kudankulam
anti-nuclear protests to the freedom struggle.
On 15 September 2012, Rev.Fr. David
Michael interpreted faith to the act of fulfilling the demands of others.
He exhorted everyone to work in public interest rather than in private
interest.
On 19 September 2012, Rev. Fr.
Lawrence said that no one shall
take any hasty decision simply because the people surrounding him/her pass
unjust comments. A woman – in a nearby
place- had set fire to her daughter before sitting on a pyre because the people
surrounding her had accused her of moral turpitude. Both mother and daughter
had died. In a written note she
mentioned that she had been innocent.
On 20 September 2012, Rev. Fr. Robert John Edward
Kennedy exhorted the youth to be pillars of the society.
On 21 September 2012, Dais Regin said that the judges pretended to establish justice
only. He added that some political leaders talk about social justice only to
cover up their guilt.
In
the second mass Rev Fr. Maria Rajendran
said that a man- instead of using the society for his development- must strive
to change the society.
